15 october 2000 despite my best intentions, the poor site has been somewhat neglected these past few months.  the move to glasgow and work on lochs.net has slowed things down.   however, today we have added a new friends site.  check out gavin's unusual view of the world and engage him in discussion - he'd like that.
8 july 2000 after many months of neglect, cover cam has spluttered back into life giving you visual proof that my ears are happy.  also, gb has decided to part with some cash and pay his host to remove those annoying pop-up banner ads.  hooray for that!

4 june 2000 I am always receiving misdirected e-mails from all over the world, some of which really deserve to be seen. have a look here and meet my new friends.
28 may 2000 whilst rummaging, I found a handful of old black and white photos taken one sunny day. they're nothing special but you're welcome to have a look.
21 may 2000 this year has seen the release of some fantastic music and it's still only may!  here are my favourites from the year, so far.  go on, part with some cash!

11 march 2000 added a headline news service to the main page and the latest music headlines to the music page, all courtesy of moreover.com. also, for those with an interest in web design, I've put together a page with details about this site, how it was made and where to get helpful advice on html etc.
6 february 2000 a wee bit daft, I know, but today I've added a list of some of the fine gigs I've been to.  bands both big and small.  tell me if you were there, too.   I'd love to know!

26 december 1999 hey, a belated happy christmas to you! well, it's winter, which means snow, which means photographs of snow ...obviously. so here's some photos of stornoway in the snow.
25 october 1999 after a month of inactivity a couple of new bits and bobs have arrived today. I decided that it needed a bit of spicing up around here. so, the opening page of the site has been redesigned with superfluous JavaScript rollovers and oddball cartoon characters. also, I've added a much needed page of links to friends' sites. I really don't know why that's taken so long. I've also made the decision to go with stylesheets throughout most of the site. it's now so much easier to add new pages but I must apologise to my pre-version 4 browser-using chums - everything will probably look crap to you.  as always, any comments, please mail me.

4 september 1999 well, I've invested in a scanner, so photos should now abound (until the novelty wears off).  anyway, 4 new photos are now available for your viewing pleasure.  also, strangely enough, the contents of my wallet!.. yeah, just read the explanation - it makes some sort of sense, honestly.  just click the link from this page and all should be revealed.
2 august 1999 hey, hey!  we're on a roll with these forms, now.   (aren't bank holidays great?)  a guestbook has finally appeared - tasteful messages are always appreciated!
1 august 1999 so far, there hasn't been much to look at around here...until today.  the photos page has now appeared.  gasp at the mediocrity!  also, a minor victory has been won - the FrontPage extensions now appear to work as bill intended.  so you can now visit the music page and give me your current top tunes.  cheers.

update 21 august 2001 - the old gordonbarnes.com mailing list was such an infrequent user of the listbot service that they went and withdrew the facilty for everyone! so no more mailing list... for now!
9 july 1999 a few new links to bands, today.  also, two new pages of links to record stores and music news sites.
26 june 1999 added a page of links to record labels and suggested some kind of vague style for the music main page.  also there, you've got my hi-fi heap - the new stuff that I'm listening to.  still working on a web cam page and the top albums of 98.  patience, people, patience!
15 june 1999 not much activity round here recently, hey?  well, I guess I might still be in shock. read my traumatic tale of woe here.  a couple of odd bands have been added to the bands page, too.  oh, I've invested in a web cam, so if the technology allows, we might have live hazy pictures of the back garden before soon... well, everybody else is doing it!
23 may 1999 not much new here today - some tidying up and behind-the-scenes work on the top albums of 98 which should debut next weekend, hopefully.  still, looking for more gordon barnes people out there, but don't seem to be able to find any today...ho hum.
16 may 1999 a new non-bands links page has arrived today.  I've also set myself a challenge - to provide the first and the definitive internet directory of gordon barnes related information.  there are more gordon barnes-es-es-es out there than you'd expect!
9 may 1999 discovered today that the magnificent sideways scrolling main page doesn't look so magnificent in Netscape, so had to abandon the whole thing and re-do it as separate pages... grrr!  on a positive note, the band links page is now up and running.  check it out and discover what the likes of beck and radiohead are up to.  there are hundreds of bands missing, so if you have a favourite site that you think I should add, why not mail me the url.
3 may 1999 the present form of www.gordonbarnes.com makes its debut with a fully functioning main page and counter but very little else.  looks pretty though.  I spent ages struggling with the guestbook only to discover that I can't get these damn FrontPage extensions to work properly.  today is therefore the day that I have reluctantly decided to look elsewhere for some guestbook/forms paraphernalia.  if you know how to get these FrontPage forms working, please drop me a line.  gordon@gordonbarnes.com   never had this trouble with geocities...
